SUDDYN - Up-and-Coming Artist

SUDDYN are a recent up-and-coming band to be added to Just Another Radio. As a personal opinion, their songs are very well-written - they are also extremely catchy with great rhythms! They will be added to the 'Up-and-Coming' tab above, along with Kevin M Thomas.

SUDDYN'S Biography
Developing their piano-driven electro-rock sound into what it is today, SUDDYN stemmed from humble beginnings in Montauk, New York, growing into the international band they have become. Formed by brothers Alan (vocals, piano, synths) and Jarrett (guitar, vocals, bass) Steil, the band honed its music while touring through Ireland. Using their allure to crack the Irish music scene, the group returned to New York with 3 Top 30 hits, a devoted following, and a string of equally impressive hangovers. Blessed with panty-dropping good looks, they bring energy and presence to their shows unmatched since Genghis Khan conquered Mongolia. Incorporating a savvy knowledge of production values, SUDDYN followed their debut EP Dark Lights, with Before the City, produced by Grammy Award-winner David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Sublime).

In 2011, trading winter jackets and pasty skin for sunglasses and tans, SUDDYN brought the show to the West Coast. Playing an intensive schedule in LA-area bars and clubs, they garnered heavy attention from KROQ and MTV.

Continuing with their budding success they have shared the stage over the past year with the likes of Vampire Weekend; Matt and Kim; We Are Scientists and Bright Eyes. Their new music video for “Nothing Lasts Forever" is really gathering steam as well having been featured on Much Music's The Wedge, Music Choice, MTV.com, Yahoo Music and it was AOL’s music video of the day.

Thanks to SUDDYN for providing the images and biography.

1st Broadcasting Month Complete!

:O
It has been an entire month since my first broadcasting date and I've got an average of 11hrs/day - this means I've got 2 months left to achieve an extra 1hr a day on average (not even mentioning I have recently been getting up to 70hrs a day!!!).

In other news, WaWaWadio (the other half of RadioBros or whatever we are going by these days) is going to be broadcasting in 2012 with an attempt to revive a genre! The broadcast date is uncertain at the moment as there is a lot of song collecting to do and planning the day template.

Keep tuning in to Just Another Radio, and if I get lots more listening hours there will be a lot of cool stuff coming to the radio. :D

Good News!

I will have extra time to finish everything I need to broadcast the radio because of I get an extra day off (due to school strikes). Depending on the progress I make, hopefully it will bring the broadcast date closer but it will definitely give me time to improve the radio.

All I have left to do now is to gather some more albums and compilations so that I have a large library of songs that don't repeat every other minute. I need to create a jingle and record some stuff that I can put in before songs but a good song library is my priority.

I will be posting a list of some songs on later and remember to contact us with songs you want to hear.

Scheduling & Stuff

Scheduling and stuff and problems and updates
and solutions and more problems and good things
and bad things and rotas!
Our Radio Manager issue is still going on as our ingenious solution didn't work. :( We might have to separate the week days between us, so we both have music libraries but they aren't the same. However, this is a good thing! We have a wider music library and days can be themed and different so it keeps it fresh.

The music at the moment does go with the time it is. In the morning there is feel-good, calm reggae, soul and funk. Then gradually, you move into more chart songs and rock. As the day progresses there will be some more rap. Finally, at night there will be more dubstep. In addition, we won't just stop the reggae, funk and soul, as that is what our radio focuses around. There is a nice mix during the middle of the day, where there is an equal bit of
everything.

Some song names and artists to be revealed later on! Please submit your song suggestions and favourite artists in the comments or tweet us @Radio_JAR

Poll

What is your favourite music genre?
I just want to remind you about the poll on the right sidebar. It only takes one second to click on one or more answers and it would really be great to hear from you. If you have any other appropriate ideas and genre's you want to add just put them in the comments on this post :)

As it stands, with a whopping two votes, funk is in the lead. However, pop, soul, rock, alternative and 'other' all have one vote. I encourage you to do an honest vote before the deadline.

Day 3 - Behind the Scenes

Behind the Scenes
We haven't really posted any 'blog-like' posts yet,
 so here goes:
Day -1 mainly consisted of conversations similar to these: "Are we actually going to make an internet radio?" ,"What shall we call it?" , "Oh, I really wish that name wasn't taken." After several hours of searching for names that hadn't been taken, we came up with Just Another Radio (sometimes abbreviated as JAR).  We created accounts on Twitter, Blogger and Gmail. Then dreadful things happened, nah, I just said that so you would click read more. Press read more? Please?

We've Got the Funk

Bob Marley

Gotta Have That Funk
We're currently building up our playlist with lots of songs from THE Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Al Green and many other funk/soul artists. We are also incorporating modern songs onto our radio station, so we can appreciate the old and new and other stuff like that.
Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, Daft Punk and Eminem are a few names you wouldn't hear together on any other radio station but Just Another Radio. We're planning schedules for each different genres and where we might have a mix.

Also, we are looking for up-and-coming artists who would like to feature on our radio station. In return, we only ask that you tell as many people as you can about us!
