The Radio Revolution

With thousands of people joining new music services such as Spotify or listening to short radio shows on sites like Mixcloud and Spreaker, where does the future of internet radio lie?
It doesn't seem likely that internet radio will become extinct any time soon because of the 'Rise Of The Smartphones' (that should totally be a movie). However, with the growing popularity of Spotify ,which is often linked with social networks, streaming music is spreading fast and gaining momentum. Some people will no longer listen to their favourite internet radio station as the giant library of music is now waiting on their desktop, ready to be clicked on...but wait! Internet Radios must have an answer to this, surely? Websites and services such as iTunes radio, TuneIn Radio and Radionomy have hundreds of internet radio stations and we mustn't forget that playlists and radio are different things.

Radios make you feel so much more involved with the music, the artists and the community of radio hosts. Consequently, the internet takes another strike at internet radio: Spreaker and Mixcloud. But is this actually an attack on internet radio or just a revolution of it? These websites are giving people the freedom of Spotify as well as the feel of internet radio. Once again reinventing how we listen to music.
So, what are we, Just Another Radio, going to do about this? Firstly, we are going to improve our radio as much as we possibly can. Creating a huge variety of rock, indie, alternative and urban tracks we hope to appeal to a wide audience and hopefully more people will appreciate these different styles of music. The next few weeks will see a major improvement in the radio! Secondly, we are going to embrace the revolution. We are trying to link our Top 10 shows with Spotify, create the Ultimate Playlist on Spotify and creating live shows on Spreaker or Mixcloud. We will simply link all our accounts back to here, Just Another Radio. Internet Radio is going to better than ever, and we hope you can stay tuned in for the journey.

The Future

My current priorities for the radio include getting enough listeners; without any listeners, all this work will have gone to waste. However, I am going to continue to work on the radio no matter what.
The plans I have at the moment include:
  •          Finalized Logo
  •          Blog/Website Redesign
  •          Creating a Jingle
Music-wise, my targets are to:
  •  Expand the music library
  •  Get on more internet radio hosting sites
  •  Finalize songs that are broadcasting
As many of the popular radios have very specific target audiences, but as Just Another Radio is unique for it variety of music, I am unsure whether to limit the genres on it. So, as a consequence of this, I reopened the Favourite genre Poll for you to vote for you favourite genres.

Links and Radio Players

JustAnotherRadio is currently broadcasting
I have added a 'Links' box in the sidebar as well as two different radio players (just in case one doesn't work). In the Links box there is a direct link to my Radionomy profile - if you have a Radionomy account or are going to make one, it would be great if you favourited my radio for support.

Secondly, I have a Radio Stream Link. This link is quite important as you can save it and then stream the radio through Windows Media Player or iTunes. I'll create a how to guide to make it clear.

Music library - Artists

So, the radio is currently broadcasting :D But there will be some updates and the radio will grow with more songs and stuff.

Some of my favourite artists I have added so far include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Coldplay, Oasis, Elbow, Lenny Kravitz, Seal and James Brown.
I am adding some new songs from recent albums such as Mylo Xyloto and I'm with You (RHCP). Also, I am questioning whether to include a few popular tracks in the charts, however I will avoid autotune. :D

Tune in to Just Another Radio in the sidebar >

Scheduling & Stuff

Scheduling and stuff and problems and updates
and solutions and more problems and good things
and bad things and rotas!
Our Radio Manager issue is still going on as our ingenious solution didn't work. :( We might have to separate the week days between us, so we both have music libraries but they aren't the same. However, this is a good thing! We have a wider music library and days can be themed and different so it keeps it fresh.

The music at the moment does go with the time it is. In the morning there is feel-good, calm reggae, soul and funk. Then gradually, you move into more chart songs and rock. As the day progresses there will be some more rap. Finally, at night there will be more dubstep. In addition, we won't just stop the reggae, funk and soul, as that is what our radio focuses around. There is a nice mix during the middle of the day, where there is an equal bit of
everything.

Some song names and artists to be revealed later on! Please submit your song suggestions and favourite artists in the comments or tweet us @Radio_JAR

Make It YOUR Radio

Make It YOUR Radio
It's so easy to just look past posts like these, especially with a cliche title like that ^ , but if just this once you didn't - you would be in for a treat. In short, this post is about how you can get involved with the radio and how you can help mould it into the radio you want to listen to
1. How you can shape how the radio develops
2. How you can feature on the radio

1. Many people who don't listen to radios have reasons such as 'they don't play music I like' , 'too much talking' etc.  So, we are asking you to help us create a radio you would want to listen to - and this won't stop once we are broadcasting; we are going to continually develop our radio. "How could I possibly do this?" I hear you ask (I'm psychic or something) - you can comment, tweet about it or email us or even all three (details at bottom). You can tell us anything from your favourite song, how much we should talk, when we should play certain music and any other appropriate suggestions you might have.

2. Are you an aspiring musical artist, songwriter or producer? With your consent, we would be willing to air your music in our Up-and-Coming artist time-slot. All we ask in return is you ask people to listen to our radio. It's a win-win, we get listeners, you get listeners. For further details email justanotherradio@gmail.com
Now you know all you need to know about how to make Just Another Radio your radio.
We look forward to hearing from you!
